When in Doubt, Turn to Mother Nature

I spent a lot of time fixing up my IT consulting site over the weekend. So much so I haven’t really left house except for to eat. Even after the layout and the grand scheme of things were done, I spent hours sitting in front of the computer with my browser and Photoshop open, trying to pick a colour scheme that worked.

If only picking a paint colour was as easy! Well… actually it can be. Company like Behr offer online tools to help you visualize a colour choice before you commit. Simply upload a picture of your room and paint and repaint to your will till you like.

Personally (going for resell value again), I tend to paint my room very neutral. Now, that doesn’t mean boring. I find that mother nature is the best artist. So, when I have any doubts I just find pictures of cayons, oceans, beaches, forests … and pick out a colour scheme from there. Consider:

• Furniture in wood bark brown stain
• Walls in sage green
• Floor in autumn leaf

or

• Furniture in sea shell white
• Walls in sea foam blue
• Floor in sandy beach

Let mother nature be your guide and take your inspiration from anywhere in the world that your imagination can take you. Bring the ocean floor or peak of the Himalayas to your home. With this one simple rule you too can paint like a goddesss.
